Free Musa Aşoğlu!

Free Musa Aşoğlu!

The final hearing of the 3/2 case of the revolutionary prisoner Musa Aşoğlu, who was imprisoned in the German state of Hamburg, was held on 19 May. (Translator's note: A prisoner in Germany can potentially be released after serving two-thirds of a sentence.)

While no spectators were allowed in to attend the hearing due to the pandemic, the masses who embraced Aşoğlu held a solidarity action in front of the courthouse.

The court that supervised this hearing was the one that sentenced our comrade to 6 years and 9 months in prison three years ago for his political views. The same delegation would go before Musa Aşoğlu again and ask whether there was an "improvement" and then they would put their own unlawfulness into practice. However, the only constant truth is; as Musa Aşoğlu emphasized in the defence file he gave to the delegation, he did not give up his thoughts and continued to defend the same values!

Our comrade, addressing the court committee which showed astonishment at his determination to defend revolutionary beliefs and values; “I didn't do anything criminal in Germany. I am revolutionary. I grew up with revolutionary thoughts and will continue to hold such values. It is not a crime to fight against oligarchy, imperialism and fascism. Even in your Constitution, it is known that fighting against fascism is not a crime and there are harsh sanctions against those who defend fascism.

So, why is it a crime when it comes to being a revolutionary?

As in your country, racism, that is, fascist attacks, are increasing day by day and also all over the world. Fighting against fascism is not a crime! Fighting against imperialism is not a crime!
Isolation, arbitrary practices... you are using all kinds of methods to get me to give up my beliefs! You think you are punishing me by confiscating the books, letters and cards sent to me. However, with such practices, you cannot stop revolutionary ideas. I am not doing you any favours. It is my right to benefit from the 3/2 law. I am exercising my right…”

The crowd outside showed with their solidarity that Musa Aşoğlu was not alone. In the statement made by his lawyer, it was emphasized that the decision would be notified to them.

The next day, in the phone call we had with Musa Aşoğlu, he said; “I saw inside the courthouse our people waiting with red flags. Waving red flags raises our hopes. The same committee that punished us for our thoughts has come before us and is trying to test whether we have been reformed (in our beliefs) or not. German imperialism is breaking its own laws. It is committing a crime. Whatever their decision, our search for justice will continue!”

THE ILLEGALITY OF THE GERMAN STATE CONTINUES!

Our comrade Musa Aşoğlu stated that in the phone call we made on 1 June, the court informed his lawyer of the hearing decision on 19 May. This decision of the court board proved how they ignored the law by violating their own constitution.

The punishment given to our comrade
Rejecting the release request despite the completion of the 3/2 ratio proved how the German state disregarded its laws with the intention of trying to get a revolutionary to give up his thoughts, and the state violated its own laws, trampling on them.

German imperialism says; “If we release you, you will continue to carry, propagate, own and defend the same beliefs… You will serve the full punishment we have given you!”

Musa Aşoğlu says; “Of course I will continue to live with my beliefs. I will continue to keep the ideas I defend alive. After my release, I will continue to fight to keep these ideals alive. I will fight for the removal of DHKP-C, which is fighting for the unity and liberation of peoples against imperialism, from the "terror lists" you have created. I will file lawsuits against the banning of our media organs, which are the voice of those who resist, and to protect the freedom of the press. I will file lawsuits against the banning of the concerts of Grup Yorum, the voice of all oppressed peoples of the world. I will continue to suffocate you with my beliefs regarding your dirty history…”

We call on all our people to embrace Musa Aşoğlu. You can support him by writing letters or sending cards.
